How to Determine if Your Computer Is 32-Bit or 64-Bit?
1) Right click on Computer and click Properties.Look at 'System Type' it will tell you whether you're 64 or 32.
2)Then,if your pc is a 64 bit ,(running windows 7) download NVIDIA Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop 32-BIT ,CAUSE 64-BIT do not work,on this system.
3)So download the 32-bit nvidia plug-in from https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop (32-bit),after you finish downloading it ,click install.
4)When will ask where to install the dds plugins ,you go to c:/programs/adobe/photoshop/plugin
5)When the installation process is finished ,open your photoshop, and try to open a dds file, i always put them on desktop ,(is much easier to find it :D).so photohop ,go to file ,open, desktop dressgrey.dds(example name),click open, and if the plugins are installed as i wrote up ,should open it without problems.
If anyone still have problems (but I hope not!), you can try this solution here:
Just install Paint.Net(find it with google search), open the .dds in Paint.Net, save it as a .jpg/.png, open the newly saved file in photoshop), edit it, open it in Paint.Net, then save it as a .dds.
here the download link http://www.getpaint.net/
Is much easier ,but i advise the first option as i have both paint.net and photoshop cs6,i love paint.net ,but ps is full of great options, and tools.
Step by step :
so go to computer-c drive(double click)-programms (x86)-adobe-adobe photoshop(folder)-apps-adobe photoshop folder-Plug-ins folder-plug-ins-file formats-dds.8bi
who want to know more about the dds files ,here you can find some informations:
